conducts employment services for veterans seeking long-term employment in
the State of Georgia.Individuals are provided with assistance that meets their
need to obtain suitable employment.
Services include an initial professional analysis of vocational and educational
skills. An appraisal of the clients job placement readiness is matched with
available employment in the area. This comprehensive inventory of the veteran’s
critical employability factors includes all relevant personal information,
related education, military training and credentials. Once the assessment
is completed, a viable and realistic labor market search is conducted. A minimum
of 12 to 15 local contacts are researched that correspond with the veteran’s
employment, skills, and economic needs.
Job Seeking Skills and a Job Placement Strategy guide the individual towards
full and meaningful employment. All clients receive job counseling and social
skills training before beginning the job search process. Each individual is
provided with a professional resume which accurately reflects job goals and
related qualifications.
Once suitable employment is obtained, the ABC Placement Counselor will continue
to meet with the veteran and maintain progress reports concerning the placement.
Each individual and their new employer is visited at least three times during
the first sixty days of employment. However, on a case by case basis, a somewhat
longer period of employment follow-up may occasionally be provided to ensure
the veteran has established suitable employment, satisfactory adjustment and
progress.
